- Ingredient Content : Dabigatran etexilate 110 mg / 150 mg
- Medicine appearance:
- 110 mg : light-blue / milky-white capsule, marked with R110.
- 150 mg : Light blue / milky-white capsule, marked with R150.
- Effect : Anticoagulant ( blood thinner ), prevention and treatment of thrombosis and embolism ( blood clots ).
Application and Dosage
- Take one capsule by mouth twice a day. Pradaxa may be taken before or after meal.
- Please take the whole capsule with a full glass of plain water. Do not open the capsule. Breaking, chewing, or removing the capsule could increase the exposure of medicine.
- The length of treatment varies from individual’s health conditions. In general, the treatment is continued until the risk of blood clots is resolved.
- IF you forget to take the medicine, you may take the missed dose immediately when you recall. If the time you remember is less than 6 hours to the next dose, you should skip it and take next dose on the followig day. Do not double doses.
Storage
- Store the medicine in tightly closed container at room temperature between 15 ~ 30 ℃). Keep it away from excess moisture and avoid direct sun exposure. Store the medicine in a safe area and keep it out of reach by children.
Possible Adverse Reactions
If you present any abnormal bleeding or symptom shown below, contact physician or pharmacist immediately :
- Pain, swelling or discomfort in arms and legs, prolonged wound bleeding, increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding, unusual nose or gum bleeding, coughing up blood, red or dark-brown urine, red or black stool, skin contusion, bruises, or purpura, headache, dizziness and weakness.
- Back pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in legs and feet, and stool or urine incontinence ( lose control ).
Special Medication Instructions
- Do not share you medicine with others.
- Take Pradaxa as directed. Pradaxa is usually taken twice daily.
- Do not change the dose or stop taking Pradaxa without your physician’s authorization to avoid increased risk of stroke.
- Make sure your physician, pharmacist, and dentist know that you are taking Pradaxa.
- If you are planned for surgery or tooth extraction, you should consult your physician if Pradaxa needs to be held.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have histories of severe kidney problems, bleeding disorders, gastric ulcer, or are undergoing spinal surgery, you should inform your physician before taking Pradaxa.
- Avoid exercises or activities that could get you hurt or bleed.
- For your medication safety, please consult your physician or pharmacist before taking any other medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal medicines, particularly for anti-inflammatory pain medicines, aspirin, platelet aggregate inhibitors, or other antithrombotic agents ( blood thinners ).
