HIMSS 7 Certified Real-Time Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) System with Alerts

The pharmacy department's drug information service integrates with the hospital's Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) system to monitor drug interactions, indications, age restrictions, dose control, and drug information inquiries. Additionally, it uses a commercial Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) (Medi-Span®) to support accurate prescriptions by physicians and evidence-based decision support for pharmacists, enhancing safety and precision in medication management.

National Healthcare Quality Award for Traditional Chinese Medicine Pharmaceutical Services

The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Pharmacy Division utilizes intelligent technology to develop a smart pharmaceutical system, offering patients QR code-based drug information, education on toxic TCM substances, guidance on high-risk interactions between TCM and Western medications, medication reminders, and progress tracking. For healthcare professionals, it provides cloud-based interaction alerts for TCM and Western medicine, duplicate TCM prescriptions, safety reminders via CPOE, and cumulative dosage alerts for high-risk TCMs. Administrative management is enhanced with dashboards for quality control, human resources, quality anomaly reports, and dynamic tracking for outpatient and inpatient services, greatly improving TCM pharmaceutical service quality.

Whole-Person Clinical Pharmaceutical Service for Disease Care Quality

Pharmacists provide clinical pharmaceutical services focusing on whole-person care across 13 specialty disease certifications. Participating in patient rounds and incorporating shared decision-making (SDM) practices within the AMI/CAD and heart failure teams, pharmacists provide bedside medication education to enhance adherence. The department implements audits to ensure correct medication usage and safe storage across all specialty teams.

SNQ and HIMSS 7 Certified Chemotherapy Dispensing System

The oncology department utilizes an innovative, comprehensive chemotherapy safety system with error-free barcode verification, ISO 5-compliant drug preparation, and closed-system transfer devices, meeting USP 800 safety standards. This closed-loop chemotherapy system tracks cumulative doses, full patient medication histories, and maintains traceable compounding records.

Presidential Award for Anti-Drug Achievements at the Medication Education Resource Center

The department's medication resource center offers education on safe medication use, TCM, and anti-drug information. With over 8,900 consultations, the center collaborates with the community to provide drug safety seminars and anti-drug education in schools, with over 6,900 participants from 109 to 112 years. In 2021, it received the Anti-Drug Group Award presented by President Tsai Ing-wen.

SNQ Certified National Rare Disease Nutritional and Emergency Drug Logistics Center

Under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the pharmacy department centrally manages procurement, storage, and distribution for rare disease patients, ensuring critical supplies with an annual budget of around NT$78 million, serving approximately 1,500 patients across 20 healthcare facilities nationwide.

Innovative Patent-Certified Virtual Medication Identification Learning System

The department has developed an immersive learning system allowing users to study drug appearance using a 360-degree virtual reality (VR) environment. This system helps users learn drug names, appearances, and pronunciations with real-time monitoring by instructors. The system has received awards and Taiwan’s new patent certificate (M647767).
