Trauma and Emergency Center

Department Introduction

In Taiwan, the deaths from traumatic accidents was more than 7,000 people in 2016, and the establishment of trauma centers may reduce the death toll by at least 15-20%, meaning 1,050-1,400 lives can be saved.

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare's (MOHW) trauma classification policy, Taiwan's hospitals will be divided into two categories: those with a traumatic center and those without. Medical institutions without a trauma center will unavoidably be excluded from emergency medical networks and trauma treating systems in all regions. In the future, clients will be restricted to elderly people in the community. As a medical center and university hospital, we should not serve only as a community hospital. We should as a destiny for patient evacuation from other hospitals in central Taiwan.

Trauma treatment is usually associated with major accidents that shock the society and often becomes the center of national attention. The effectiveness of trauma treatment is a common indicator for the public to evaluate the hospital's professionalism. The hospital is committed to giving patients all kinds of services 24 hours a day. The establishment of an emergency and trauma center is based on this commitment.

China Medical University Hospital's Emergency and Trauma Center serves emergency patients with severe traumatic injuries. Specialists from integrated emergency surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, radiology and anesthesiology are all on duty to provide integrated, comprehensive medical services at the earliest possible moments.
